Student Testimony
I had a good childhood growing up, but I was an angry kid and struggled to follow rules. I was often in trouble at school and had a hard time keeping friends. Eventually, I began taking my mom’s psychiatric medication, and my life spiraled from there. What followed was a blur of parties, drinking, and drug use.
In college, my addiction continued. I wasn’t able to settle down enough to focus on school, and balancing work, classes, and substance use became impossible. I eventually dropped out and continued working while using drugs. That pattern continued until I was arrested for a DWI.
Even while on probation, I kept using and eventually ended up back in jail. After being released, I went to rehab, but soon found myself right back where I started. This time, my life truly felt like it had hit rock bottom.
That’s when I learned about Fort Myers Teen Challenge. I knew I had to make a real change. Through the program, I was introduced to Christ, and for the first time, my life began to change in a way nothing else ever had.
